Elastic Band Came Off Braces
At each visit your orthodontist tightens the wires springs or elastic bands to increase the tension.
Elastic band came off braces. In some cases a type of twisted wire will be used but rubber ligatures are the most common. The band holds the wire to the bracket creating the pressure that moves your teeth. Loose rubber band tiny rubber bands or small fine wires known as ligatures or ties hold the wire to the bracket. If the ligature does come off you can try to replace it with a pair of sterile tweezers.
Ligature band coming off there is a rubber band stretched around the bracket it is called the ligature and it helps keep the wire connected to the bracket. Rubber bands should be worn 24 hours a day seven days a week. In case your wire ligature comes loose take it out with a sterile tweezers. Replace lost or broken rubber bands immediately.
What to do when the o ring or colored tie comes off the orthodontic bracket. For every day you skip wearing rubber bands you lose three days of treatment. Use a sterile tweezers to put your rubber ligature back in place if it comes off. If a rubber band should come off you may be able to put it back in place using sterile tweezers.
In the event a rubber band breaks or falls off during sleep and cannot be found you need to replace the band immediately. Gap bands are small elastics or rubber bands tied or looped around two teeth to close a space or gap. The small rubber or metal elastics more commonly called rubber bands that surround your braces are technically called elastic ligatures a ligature is used primarily to keep the archwire held into the slot on the bracket but they can also direct the teeth in a particular direction depending on the type of ligature used and how it is tied onto the tooth.
