Electric Dryer Not Heating Up

Electric dryer not heating up. It is not uncommon for only one fuse or breaker to trip resulting in the dryer able to run but not heat. This video covers the most likely issues with a standard whirlpool style dryer that cause it not to heat and dry your clothes. The element is a coil of heating wire enclosed in a metal chamber. Ensure that gas is flowing throughout the house.
Put your dryer on power on and run the heat test again. If there s little airflow your venting likely needs to be cleaned or replaced. The circuit breaker could have partially tripped even if it does not look as though it has. If the element is defective then it will not heat.
Dryer is turning the drum but there is no heat to dry the clothes. It can also be the result of a clogged dryer vent hose. If your dryer is electric it will have a heating element consisting of a metal chamber containing a coil of heating wire. Electric current flowing through the coil creates heat and the air being pulled through the chamber absorbs this heat.
Heating element coils look like stretched out door springs. To check if your venting is clogged start a timed dry on high heat. Electric dryers need two legs of 120 volts ac equaling 240 volts. If your dryer is not heating then you may have an incoming power problem.
Turn off the breaker to the dryer and turn it back on to restore full power. An electric dryer may run with a partial voltage of 110 volts but it will not heat unless it has 208 240v 30 amps. Be certain to disconnect power from dryer. Use another gas unit to test if gas is runing in the house.
